We were asked to repair this deck, and railing, and rebuild the stairs. The original stairs had treads and risers of different sizes, some treads had a forward slope like you were walking down in high heels. The new treads where cut to fit around the rock garden sides. Each riser is now an even 7 1/4 inches.
